Organic Lemon Myrtle Extract

Lemon Myrtle was used by the Australian Aboriginals to wrap around wounds to help healing. It is known for its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, said to be even better than eucalyptus and tea-tree. It is also known as an antiviral.

Organic Olive Leaf Extract

Dried olive leaves (Olea Europaea) have been used as a medicinal remedy for a long time, back to the Egyptians. The olive leaf is the leaf of the olive tree. The olive fruit along with olive oil, is very healthy and very popular. The leaf from this tree also has many health benefits. The compound oleuropein is the reason for its disease fighting properties. Olive leaves are antiviral, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory and are said to contain double the antioxidants than green tea. It is known to help to boost the overall health of your skin and helps to shield it from potentially damaging environmental factors. It’s also known to moisturise and a great helper to dry, cracked skin.

Organic Shea Butter

This extraordinary skin care ingredient is an amazing body healer and its rich in precious constituents, which include unsaturated fats, essential fatty acids, phytosterols, vitamin E and D, provitamin A and allantoin. All these are natural and make Shea butter a super food for your skin (and hair). Rich in cinnamon acid, it possesses protective properties against environmental influences, including UV rays and sun allergies. It can also be used for minor skin wounds and irritations, a great alternative to lanolin.

Organic Vegetable Glycerine

Is an organic compound derived from coconut oil and used to regulate the absorption and release of the water in the skin, creating a moisture balance and helping to soften and smooth the skin. Another aspect of glycerin’s benefit is that it is a skin-identical ingredient, meaning it is a substance found naturally in skin.

Cetearyl Olivate & Sorbitan Olivate

Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate is derived from olive oil and known for its long lasting hydrating and moisturising properties, and is organically approved. Cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate are processed from a combination of pure refined olive oil. Together they create a non-ionic, self-emulsifying system which is non-ethoxylated and PEG-free. They are hypo-allergenic and approved for use in organic formulations. Their primary functions is as an emulsifier for oil/water products and also add a deep moisturising and softening effect beneficial to the skin and hair.

Organic Jojoba Oil

This amazing waxy oil is chemically similar to our own moisturizing sebum; it penetrates well leaving no oily residue. It is composed of esters high in Vitamin E, and is excellent for skin disorders such as psoriasis and eczema. It is similar to natural collagen and contains myristic acid, an anti-inflammatory agent.

Organic Safflower Oil

Safflower oil is a source naturally high in vitamin E antioxidants, a single tablespoon of safflower oil contains 4.6mg of vitamin E. It helps maintain the skin's outer protective layer, by coating your skin and also enhancing its natural moisture barrier. This helps shield the environmental damage to your skin cells by the sun or dry air.

Glyceryl Stearate

Glyceryl stearate is a fatty acid derived from vegetable oil.  It is naturally present in the human body and is primarily used in cosmetics as a lubricant that imparts a softer, smoother appearance on the surface of skin.  It's small molecular structure enables it to penetrate the skin's surface easily and it aids in slowing the loss of water by forming a barrier that prevents evaporation. Glyceryl stearate also minimizes free-radical damage. This ingredient is an excellent stabilizer for cosmetic formulations and reduces the greasiness of oils without interfering with the moisturizing benefits they contribute to the skin.

Sodium Stearate

This fatty acid is primarily comprised of Stearic Acid— a byproduct of vegetable oil during the saponification process. This white powder serves as an emulsifier and mild cleanser, and it has been used extensively to treat skin diseases.

Citric Acid

Is naturally found in citrus fruits and balances the PH of the skin. It is high in Vitamin C and antioxidants that can help refresh skin and reduce the look of aging by promoting new skin growth and destroying free radicals. We love it because it is natural and poses little to no risk to the environment.

Organic Chamomile Essential Oil

There are several varieties of Chamomile essential oil and their properties overlap to a large extent. We choose to use both German and Roman Chamomile oils in our products as they are also very versatile oils and their properties often overlap with those of Lavender. Chamomile essential oil has a gorgeous and distinctive apple-like scent and is also very beneficial to use for most infant upsets. It is very soothing, calming and anti-inflammatory. It is particularly effective for internal inflammatory conditions such as colic and teething, and its analgesic action is perfect for dull aches and pains. Chamomile tea is widely known for its profoundly calming effect, and is invaluable for use of nervous tension and anxiety. Chamomile is extremely valuable for treating skin conditions and allergies such as eczema, psoriasis and all rashes and dry itchy skin problems.  It is one of the most gentlest of oils and is particularly suitable for babies.

Organic Ylang Ylang Essential Oil

Perhaps the most important property of this oil is its ability to slow down rapid breathing and it is very useful in treating shock, anxiety and anger. Its anti-depressent and sedative properties produce a calming and relaxing effect so it is perfect to use in massage. It is also widely used for skincare as it has a balancing action on the secretion of sebum, and its rich sweet aroma makes it popular for perfumes.

 

Organic Lavender Essential Oil

We love this oil so much it features in nearly all of our products. It is undoubtedly  the most versatile essential oil and consists of a complex chemical structure. It is one of the few oils which can be used neat (undiluted) on the skin or in wounds. The detailed array of therapeutic properties of lavender are too vast to list here. Lavender is a very useful and safe essential oil to use for many of the minor upsets of babies; colic, nappy rash, teething, burns, rashes, infections, colds, irritability and sleeplessness.  It is also very safe to use during pregnancy. Lavender is one of the three essential oils which most powerfully stimulate the growth of healthy new cells – Tea Tree and Neroli are the others. Lavender has numerous active constituents but above all, it is primarily the balancing and normalising action of the oil which makes it so beneficially versatile.

How to use it

Simply apply a small amount to baby’s skin to help ease dryness. Suitable to use as a light every day moisturiser for babies with sensitive skin.
